About

Hey, I’m Mimi!

I’m a self-proclaimed avid traveler and calling Dallas, TX home. I had spent six years at my dream job as a corporate traveler in the events industry, and truly loved every minute of it. A lot of friends keep telling me to start a blog, but I wasn’t sure if anyone would read it. When Covid hit, I suddenly had a lot of free time and have been putting off creating a blog long enough!

My parents are Chinese immigrants and I’m 2nd generation American. I was born in Houston, TX and grew up/raised in the west coast and Texas. The earliest memories that I have of traveling was with family to Las Vegas and Vietnam when I was around 6 years old. The travel bug got me at a very young age (one of the perks to having immigrant parents)!

One summer in high school, I remember traveling to Switzerland, Italy, and Greece with friends on a school trip, attended two Student Council Camps in different cities in Texas, and then to Boston for a young leadership conference. My parents didn’t go with me on any of these trips, so that was my first taste of independent travel.

Right after college graduation, I went to study abroad in Taiwan for a month, then volunteered in Costa Rica, and spent 2 months on another volunteer trip to Tanzania. The trip to Tanzania was crazy, fun, and a life changing adventure, and I will never forget the time we had spent there.

Besides traveling, I love eating delicious food (from food carts to fine dining), and I love a good hike with amazing views! I do most of my travels solo and enjoy it just as much (if not more) as I do traveling with friends and family. My top travel goals are to finish visiting all 50 US states, visit all 14 Presidential Libraries and Museums (in the US), and to visit every country and continent! I’ve listed my travel goals in the post My Bucket List, and I’m always adding more to the list.

I’m also a huge miles and points enthusiast traveler, and have been “travel hacking” since 2015 (always still learning). Comfort is my travel style. I don’t always book the cheapest airfare or hotel as I prioritize my time, comfort, and loyalty programs when choosing which airlines to fly and hotels to stay with. I will be including posts on how I utilize miles and points to maximize travels with airlines and hotel stays.

I totally geek out when I get the chance to discuss travel with anyone. This blog is very much a passion hobby of mine. With this blog, I want to be able to add my own narrative, as an Asian female traveler, to the travel sphere. I hope you will find this blog helpful for your travel research. I truly believe there is beauty in every corner of this world and everyone should go, see, and experience it for themselves. Want to get in touch? Email Me!

Happy Travels,

Mimi
